How do you know if you understand what is going on in someone else’s life

I was going through a required orientation at a hospital that I had already been employed at in the past. I was pretty well convinced that the time was paid, but worthless. I sat at a back table, and hoped to get through the time. As usual, those are the experiences that surprise me. A video was played that Cleveland Clinic had made.

It showed many people walking through the clinic, and in script, briefly described their stories. Well, I was in tears before it was done. For one thing, I go to the clinic very frequently. I felt like one of those people. Many things going on in my mind, that nobody could really see from the outside. However, I have to remind myself that I am not the ONLY one.

So, I am issuing a challenge to you as well as myself. When you walk past someone, instead of thinking something like “boy she really thinks she is something”, think “what is she possibly going through? “ Lets work on this together. I’m going to try, and I will post what my experience is this week. Will you share yours? I hope so!! We can all learn!!

What do you think?

As the title says, above all, I’m a mom. There are many roles that I fill, but mom describes me best. I’m a wife, mother, sister, daughter, nurse, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife, mother in law, dog lover, patient, friend, care giver, teacher, leader, crafter, consumer, writer. I could go on, but I’m sure you get the idea. We all have so many roles. I feel I have a lot to share, and decided a blog would be a great way to do it. I live in a rural area, so this is the best way to connect with others.

  1. Love this!! So very true. I remind myself of this often. I also try to be the little voice in my kiddos head reminding them of this…. don’t jump to conclusions and don’t make snap judgements.
