Really, how do you know? When my kids were little, I was always rushing to get things done, get everybody ready, get to work, etc.. Now I look back, and realize how great they were at that age.
Teenage years: everyone always said they were difficult. I actually enjoyed them and their friends.
Adult years: I thought it would be easy, but it’s actually more difficult. You still worry, but have no control.
Grandchildren: they are so much fun that it’s unbelievable. But, I seem to worry more and have less control.
So, do you see the pattern? The best time of your life is NOW!! You can always look back and wish you enjoyed it more. I think if we enjoy each day with appreciation for what it is, we won’t have to look back with regrets.
Psalm 94:19
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy
You have to just enjoy each day as it comes because you don’t know when the Lord will call you home and I want to leave regrets. I found my faith grew at each stage of my life because once the children grow out of “childhood” you can’t be with the all the time and then you have to rely on someone else, the Lord. He only does great things even though we may not understand it at the time.

This is so accurate. I catch myself looking forward & backward with my family. I need to remind myself frequently to be in the moment & enjoy where my kids are at right now. I get wistful over the long gone baby cuddle days but I also remember how hard it was to be in the moment between sleep deprivation, new mommy nerves, (what seemed like) constant nursing….. needless to say I am trying harder to enjoy every moment, to not stress the small stuff as much, and to be very verbal with my family so they never doubt how much I love them.
